Yes, you read rightโ On the 25th of March 2019, Jon Ellis, at the time MD of Ferno UK, was arrested in Italy.๐ฎ๐ปโโ๏ธ
But letโs start from the beginning.
In October, a group of colleagues from #Ferno branches from all over the world and I were in Montichiari, in the province of Brescia, for #REAS, the International emergency exhibition. Like every year, we had a stand where we showcased our products over the three days of the fair. My #colleagues and I would meet at the stand every morning to explain the features of the stretchers to our customers.
On the last morning of the fair, my colleagues and I met at the stand as usual only to find one of our best selling products, the ScoopEXL, was missing.
We immediately called security and reported the fact to the police – the #scoop had been stolen!
Months later, the mystery remained unsolved. When we had almost forgotten about it, I received an unexpected phone call. Picking up, I heard a distinctive British accent on the other end of the line, and the tone was enthusiastic. It was Jon Ellis, the Ferno UK MD.
๐Jon said: โ ๐๐ข ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐, ๐๐จ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฐ๐ก๐จ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฅ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฌ๐๐จ๐จ๐ฉ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ซ๐ข?โ
๐ฑ I didnโt have time to answer when he admitted to stealing the scoop himself that day. I was lost for words! ๐ฑ
He went on to explain in detail how he managed to take it without anyone noticing ( with the help of one or two accomplices).
He told me that he would be coming to Italy soon to bring it back but he didnโt give me any further details. ๐ฐ He instructed me to have a cake made to celebrate the 100,000 units of the #ScoopEXL sold ๐ฐ. He warned me not to tell anyone.
I carried out his instructions although I admit I was curious to know what was going on. Together with my colleagues we planned to #prank him like he pranked us at Reas.
The day that Jon arrived in Italy, he held a meeting with all the employees, where he congratulated Enrico Carletti, our MD, for the 100,000 units sold of the stretcher which completely changed the world of rescue.
๐ข the end of the meeting, Jon announced that he had brought us a gift. He removed the red cover to reveal to all the famous โstolenโ scoop. In the months leading up to his visit, he had sent the scoop around the world, where it had been signed by staff from all our different branches. ๐ฎ๐ผโโ๏ธSuddenly, two fake Italian police officers burst into the meeting room and โarrestedโ Jon Ellis.๐ฎ๐ผโโ๏ธ
๐It was a fantastic way to start the celebrations for the success of the #ScoopEXL and proved how wonderful it is to work in a company where great results are achieved in a friendly and fun environment as a #team.
